Students Scholarships Regulations

To apply for a scholarship through Teach to Reach, a student must meet all criteria below.

 

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  1. The applicant is aged 18-30 at the beginning of the application;

  2. The applicant does not have the resources to pay for the study him- or herself, and there are also no close relatives who can;

  3. The applicant has no access to any other scholarships besides Teach to Reach;

  4. The applicant has completed the required pre-education for the study;

  5. It is to be expected that the applicant will be accepted for the study at the university;

  6. The applicant will attend a university that is recognized and certified in the city where the student lives (Nairobi);

  7. The understanding of the English language is adequate.

  8. The applicant completes the entire application process, which consist of a written application (see also below), including at least personal information, motivation letter, study plan and a future plan, a short version of his/her curriculum vitae, a physical meeting by our contacts in Nairobi, and a video call with someone from the board of Teach to Reach, at least three months prior to the start of the study.

 

The written application should contain at least the following: 

  1. Personal information (maximum 0,5 page)

    1. Academic background

      1. Grades in high school

      2. Previous education (university, diploma)

    2. Family background

    3. Financial background

      1. Outline of financial status 

      2. Why and to what extent does the student need support from Teach to Reach

  2. Motivation (maximum 1 page)

    1. A general motivation;

    2. A motivation for this specific study;

    3. What does the student want to achieve?

  3. Study plan (maximum 0,5 page):

    1. The study and university;

    2. The study must me academic;

    3. A study plan in which the approach of how to successfully complete the study is described;

    4. What is needed before the study can start;

    5. The costs for this study (application until graduation).

  4. Future plan (maximum 0,5 page):

    1. The kind of job the student wants to do, and why

    2. What the market looks like for the intended job after graduation;

    3. How they see their lives in 5-10 years;

    4. What completion of the study contributes to the society.
